Meet AMA-Con 2013 Special Guest Orpheus Collar

Orpheus Collar

Orpheus Collar was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1987, and has been encouraged to draw and create since. As a child, he was mostly interested in acquiring comic books, drawing superhero combat, and wandering the neighborhood. As a young man, he enjoys drawing, painting, museums, zoos, & world travel, with time spent in Budapest, Lisbon, Beijing, Zurich, and many spots across the New World. He’s made Los Angeles, California his home since 2010.

Most recently, Collar adapted the bestselling The Kane Chronicles, Book 1: The Red Pyramid to a 192 page New York Times best-selling graphic novel. Prior to this, he drew layouts for the NY Times best-selling Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief Graphic Novel and worked as a freelance storyboard artist.

Collar is a 2009 graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. All through college he worked as colorist’s assistant for titles such as Amazing Spider ManUltimate X-MenConan, and Batman: Confidential. In high school, he attended Carver Center for Arts and Technology, where he was taught the basics of observational drawing and painting, and how to effectively compete for awards and scholarships.
