AMA-Con 2013 Wrap-Up

WOW!!  AMA-Con 2013 was definitely a day (and night!) to remember!  We had over 2,800 people in attendance and I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a great time!  Thank you SO much to everyone who came out – especially our artists, vendors, volunteers, and special guests.  You helped make AMA-Con 2013 the success it was and we really, really appreciate your time, energy, and efforts!  To check out photos and interviews from AMA-Con 2013, please visit: http://almostnerdy.com/nerd-news/convention-reports/ama-con-2013-music-video/ and http://almostnerdy.com/nerd-news/convention-reports/ama-con-2013-interviews/.

In case you missed the big announcement at the end of the night, AMA-Con 2014 has been scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Amarillo Civic Center!  If you’re interested in coming out as a vendor, artist, entertainer, or panelist/presenter, send me a message of interest outlining what you’d like to bring to AMA-Con 2014 and we’ll go from there!  You can either send a message through the contact form above or email amanda.shelburne@amarillolibrary.org.

Finally, the Friends of the Amarillo Public Library Store within the Downtown Library still has some AMA-Con 2013 t-shirts for $10.  They’re open Wednesday-Saturday from 11am-4pm.  If you’re looking for more comics, anime, manga, and/or Steampunk novels and fashion books, come visit any of APL’s 5 locations!

Meet AMA-CON 2013 Panelist A.G. Howard

Anita G. Howard
Anita Grace Howard is the author of “Splintered,” and will be part of the “Twist on the Classics” panel with David Wenzel and Orpheus Collar.  “Splintered” is a popular YA novel inspired by “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” with a dark twist.

Anita lives in the Texas panhandle, and is most at home weaving the melancholy and macabre into settings and scenes, twisting the expected into the unexpected. She’s inspired by all things flawed, utilizing the complex loveliness of human conditions and raw emotions to give her characters life, then turning their world upside down so the reader’s blood will race.
